What do you think about Chiropractors doing acupuncture?
On Thursday March 18th, the Chiropractic Licensing Board and the Oregon Board of Chiropractic Examiners (OBCE) will meet in Eugene to discuss the use of Dry Needling by Chiropractors.
‘Dry needling’ is term for acupuncture of ‘trigger’ or ashi points. OBCE is considering including Dry Needling in the Oregon chiropractic scope of practice as a physical therapy technique. Reportedly, this is taught as chiropractic continuing education at New York hiropractic College in a 100 hour course; and Western States Chiropractic College is considering a post grad CE course on this subject as well.
The OBCE is providing an opportunity for public comment on this item if you are present, and will receive letters for consideration. The OAAOM will be sending representatives from our Board of Directors to be present at this meeting, and wanted to advise OAAOM members of this event if you would like to express your thoughts.
