Thriving practice in the Columbia Gorge in Oregon (Hood River and The Dalles) with a team of three Acupuncturists is looking for a full-time Associate Acupuncturist due to maternity leave.

Position starts June 1st 2012 full-time. The first month of employment will be on the job training with two Acupuncturists. Later start time possible. Position involves working three full days (Monday, Thursday, Friday) in both locations and three Saturdays per month (9am-1pm in Hood River), averaging approximately 30+ hours per week.

From past experience, we don’t recommend considering this position if you are not intending to move to the Columbia Gorge. Our Hood River clinic is approximately 63 miles from downtown Portland and our clinic in The Dalles 85 miles. Commuting from the greater Portland area can work as an interim solution.

We will consider candidates from Portland who are not intending to relocate to the Columbia Gorge and would adjust the schedule to two full days per week and three Saturdays per month. Fridays and Saturdays are part of the schedule plus either Monday or Thursday.

Hourly pay plus bonuses and benefits: Paid vacation, holiday pay, retirement savings plan, products at cost and Acupuncture treatments at no charge to the employee. Full-time employees (30 hours or more) are eligible for health insurance benefits, which include alternative care.

Be part of a great team in a successful practice, while gaining professional experience of seeing many wonderful clients without dealing with the business aspects or carrying the financial risk!

We are looking for you if you have at least one year experience, current Oregon License (budget 3-4 months to obtain your Oregon license if you don’t have a current Oregon license!) and ideally you are credentialed with ASHN, BCBS and American Whole Health Networks.

You are familiar with Dr Tan’s style or are willing to learn, are a good communicator, a great listener, love new ideas, have a good sense of humor and you are comfortable seeing clients every 20-30 minutes.

The Acupuncture team meets weekly to conference clients and discusses clinical topics – on paid time!

You enjoy prescribing Chinese Herbs! We have a Custom Chinese Herbal Pharmacy and are using Evergreen herbs. You are outgoing and like being part of marketing events.

Most importantly you must be ethical, caring, motivated, love working as part of a team and have a strong Acupuncture Purpose.

We are looking to fill this position for the long-term. If this speaks to you, you might qualify for our fast paced, expanding practice!

Dear Fellow Acupuncturists,

This April 15th, the members of the Oregon Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine will be voting on 5 open seats plus 2 alternates on the OAAOM Board of Directors. Please consider running for a position on the Board.

In the past year that I’ve been a member I have become ten thousand times more aware of the political situations involving acupuncturists both statewide and nationally. The board has been involved in presenting fun and informative events such as the Forks over Knives film showing and panel discussion, The Treasures of Oregon lecture series, and our annual conference and meeting. The OAAOM has also been involved as a watchdog and advocate for acupuncturists regarding dry needling legislation and inclusion in the Oregon Health Plan.

Is there something you are passionate about that we are not doing?

Run as a member of the board and advocate for your passion! We are open to new ideas and need help implementing some of the old ones. Whether you can contribute a few hours per week or a few hours per month, there are opportunities to do good in this organization. I encourage you to consider your role in the profession as we make use of the dynamic Year of the Dragon and get things done! If you want more information about what it means to be a board member, give me a call (503) 939-5541 or email info@oaaom.com.

To put your name in the hat, please do the following:

1. Familiarize yourself with the details of board service
2. Read the OAAOM Bylaws
3. Complete a willingness to serve form and submit a resume/CV by April 1st to be listed on the ballot (there will be space for write ins).
4. Email form, resume/CV to oaaom.support@gmail.com

You do not need to be present at the annual meeting to run, but it does help. You do need to be a member of OAAOM. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Wendy Childs
