Specialty/Expertise: Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, Chronic pain, Traumatic Injury/MVA, Mental/Emotional Wellness, Stress Relief, Internal Medicine.
Business Description: Dixie Young graduated from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine with a Masters in Traditional Chinese Medicine. She is a member of the American Acupuncture Council, is certified to practice Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine by the Oregon Medical Board and is a certified Qi Gong Instructor.

Dixie was accepted as a member of the Board of Directors for the Oregon Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine during their annual Spring Conference at the Abernathy Center in Oregon City this April. As a Board Member she volunteers her time to support the professional AOM community in the state and expand access to acupuncture for all.

She has worked with all age groups to help them reach their truest form of health – a balance of their physical, emotional and mental well being. Within the scope of East Asian Medicine she is able to assist patients suffering from illnesses such as the common cold, anxiety, insomnia, acute trauma, gynecological concerns, chronic pain, immune or organ deficiency issues, smoking cessation and weight loss support. She practices many forms of acupuncture, according to the needs of each individual patient. She regularly uses painless Japanese style, acupuncture with electro-stimulation and auricular therapy.

Herbal medicine is an important component of her practice in treating both acute and chronic conditions. With her on site herbal dispensary she can provide personalized formulas for any ailment or illness, often as an alternative to or in conjunction with pharmaceutical options.

Prior to studying medicine, she earned an Interdisciplinary Studies degree from the University of West Florida, focusing on social work, geography and political science. From there, she embarked on a new journey of exploration in the West, moving to Alaska to work in the great expanse of Denali State Park and Alyeska in Girdwood.

Dixie’s decision to specialize in Chinese medicine was part of a long search for the right path that would enable her to help others. It was in this medicine and practice that she found true resonance both philosophically and spiritually. It is her most sincere purpose to assist each patient in finding their own truest path to health as well.

For most of us, balance is a key part of this true health. Dixie works to maintain balance with a combination of being in nature, spending time with loved ones, exercising, taking time to relax, and investing energy in her practice. She can’t seem to get enough yoga, hiking in the Columbia Gorge and other nearby areas, occasional camping trips in the Pacific Northwest, netflixing movies, reading and enjoying the unique events Portland’s local cultural brings.
